On 15 June 2017, the tanker Damia Desgagnés, with 20 people on board, grounded in the St. Lawrence Seaway near Morrisburg, Ontario, after unexpectedly losing main engine propulsion. The vessel was refloated the next day and towed to Johnstown, Ontario. No injuries and no pollution were reported.
On 20 May 2017, the fibreglass lobster vessel Emma Joan, with two people on board, capsized east of the Grosse-Île wharf breakwater in Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Quebec. The two fishermen swam out from under the boat and were rescued by two other fishing vessels that had witnessed the capsizing from the Grosse-Île wharf.
On 22 May 2017, the second officer of the bulk carrier Nord Quebec sustained fatal injuries while the vessel was berthing at section No. 16 of the Port of Trois-Rivières, Quebec.

On 11 October 2017, the bulk carrier SBI CARIOCA, with 24 people on board, reported running aground while approaching the breakwater in the port of Belledune, New Brunswick, in the Baie des Chaleurs. The vessel was refloated on the next high tide with the assistance of two tugs. No damage, pollution or injuries. The TSB is investigating.
On , the fishing vessel Atlantic Destiny, with 31 people on board, sustained a breakdown in its main engine, as well as damage to its shaft alternators and machinery spaces, 200 nautical miles southwest of Halifax, Nova Scotia. The fishing vessel Atlantic Preserver towed the Atlantic Destiny to Shelburne, Nova Scotia. No injuries or pollution were reported.
On , the motorized refueling barge Arca 1 with five people on board and without cargo ran aground in inclement weather near Sydney, Nova Scotia. The crew was evacuated by a Search and Rescue helicopter. The vessel was subsequently refloated and towed to port. There were no injuries reported.
On 01 October 2016, the passenger vessel Stellar Sea, with 28 people on board, ran aground near Tofino, British Columbia. The passengers and crew were evacuated by passenger vessels C07488BC and C12985BC. Two passengers suffered minor injuries.
