The occurrence

A privately registered Piper PA 46-350P aircraft (with a PT6A-35 powered JetProp DLX conversion) was flying from the Sept-Îles airport, Quebec to the Goose Bay Airport, Newfoundland and Labrador.

The aircraft had been given clearance to land, and upon approach struck terrain about 2.5 miles southwest of the airport along the extended centreline of runway 08. The 406 MHz emergency locator transmitter activated. The aircraft was destroyed.

The occurrence

On the evening of 05 December 2022, a privately owned Cessna 150G was conducting a night visual flight rules flight from Salaberry-de-Valleyfield Airport (CSD3), Quebec, to Cornwall Regional Airport (CYCC), Ontario.

The occurrence

On 28 February 2023, at approximately 1245 Eastern Standard Time, the Cessna 208B Caravan aircraft (registration C-GMVB, serial number 208B0317), operated by 1401380 Ontario Limited, doing business as Wilderness North Air, departed Nakina Airport (CYQN), Ontario, for a daytime visual flight rules flight to Fort Hope Airport (CYFH), Ontario, with 2 pilots on board.

The occurrence

A WestJet Encore de Havilland DHC-8-400 was flying (WEN3252) from Kamloops, British Columbia, to Calgary, Alberta, with 4 crew members and 74 passengers on board. While enroute, the flight crew experienced a no. 2 engine power loss that was followed by a fire warning. The crew followed engine fire emergency procedures and subsequently the engine was shut down. The propeller feathered and there were no further indications of a fire.

The occurrence

At 1025 Mountain Daylight Time on 14 April 2023, the Northwestern Air Lease Ltd. British Aerospace P.L.C. Jetstream Model 3112 aircraft (registration C-FCPE, serial number 825) departed Fort Smith Airport (CYSM), Northwest Territories, on a training flight (flight PLR732T) with the captain and the first officer on board. At 1227, the aircraft returned to the airport. Shortly after landing, the left main landing gear unit collapsed, and the aircraft veered off the runway. There were no injuries.

The occurrence

On 07 April 2023, at 0821 Eastern Daylight Time, the Bell 206L helicopter (registration C‑GLQY, serial number 45146) operated by Canadian Helicopters Limited – Hélicoptères Canadiens Limitée took off from ArcelorMittal’s facilities in Port-Cartier, Quebec, with the pilot and 3 passengers on board.

The occurrence

At 1134 Mountain Standard Time on 17 April 2023, the Government of Canada, Royal Canadian Mounted Police Pilatus Aircraft Ltd. PC-12/47E (registration C-GMPX, serial number 1017) departed Whitehorse/Erik Nielsen International Airport (CYXY), Yukon, on an instrument flight rules flight to Yellowknife Airport (CYZF), Northwest Territories. The pilot was the sole occupant.
