On the morning of , 2 helicopters operated by Quebec’s Service aérien gouvernemental took off from the Montréal/St-Hubert Airport (CYHU), Quebec, at 0750 Eastern Standard Time, bound for Saint-Henri-de-Taillon, Quebec, to provide air support to a search for snowmobilers who had been reported missing the day before.

On , at approximately 1130 Mountain Daylight Time, a privately registered Nanchang CJ6A aircraft (registration C-FTGZ, serial number 1532014) departed a privately owned grass airfield located 7 nautical miles (NM) south of Smith, Alberta, to participate in an airshow at the fairgrounds in Smith.

The occurrence
On 17 February 2020, a privately operated Cessna 150 aircraft was conducting a local nighttime flight under visual flight rules from Saint-Lazare Airport, Quebec, with one pilot and one passenger on board. While the aircraft was about 1.75 NM east of the Montréal/Les Cèdres, Quebec aerodrome (CSS3), it struck two power lines before colliding with the ground. The aircraft was destroyed and both occupants were fatally injured.

On , a privately registered Cessna 172M aircraft departed Arnprior Airport (CNP3), Ontario, with the pilot and three passengers on board, for a daytime local area flight under visual flight rules (VFR). The same day, a privately registered Champion 7GCB, equipped with floats, departed Golden Lake, Ontario, for a daytime VFR flight to Constance Lake, Ontario, with only the pilot on board.
