The self-propelled barge Rivière Saint-Augustin reported that a crew member was found seriously injured while on its voyage from Chevery, Quebec, to Saint-Augustin, Quebec. The injured crew member was evacuated from the vessel. No damage or pollution was reported.
On 26 October 2022, the passenger vessel Kawartha Spirit had a bottom contact near Purcells Cove at the entrance to Northwest Arm of Halifax, where it was navigating in restricted visibility with 59 people on board. This contact resulted in damage to both propellers and port rudder.
The vessel was able to return to its berth in Halifax under its own power. No pollution or injuries were reported.
On , the oil and chemical tanker Kivalliq W. was transiting toward Baker Lake, Nunavut, and reported making bottom contact with an uncharted object while exiting the Chesterfield Narrows. As a result, the vessel sustained damage on the starboard side. The vessel was cleared to complete its voyage on its own and proceeded to Les Méchins, Quebec, to dry-dock.
No pollution was reported.
On 18 June 2023, the manned submersible commonly referred to as Titan, with five people on board, was diving to the Titanic wreck site 372 nautical miles south-southeast of Cape Race, Newfoundland and Labrador. The Canadian-flagged cargo vessel Polar Prince that had been used to transport the submersible to the site was providing surface support to the submersible as it dove.
On 23 May 2023, the self-unloading bulk carrier Cuyahoga, with 20 people on board, experienced a fire in the engine room while proceeding north on Lake Erie off Kingsville, Ontario. The crew closed the quick-closing fuel valve for the main engine day tank and then attempted to use the vessel’s carbon dioxide fixed fire suppression system. The vessel anchored north of Pelee Island, Ontario, and the fire went out shortly after the main engine stopped.
On 23 March 2023, the roll-on/roll-off ferry Atlantic Vision was unmooring in preparation to enter the dry dock at Les Méchins, Quebec. During the unmooring operations, one of the mooring lines was released from the dock into the water to be winched back onto the vessel. The line was drawn into one of the vessel’s bow thrusters and wrapped around the rotating thruster propeller shaft, causing the line to rapidly pull through the mooring winch on the forward mooring deck.
On , a crew member aboard the Canadian naval auxiliary supply vessel Asterix sustained serious injuries during mooring operations in Busan, Republic of Korea. The injured crew member was subsequently evacuated and transported to a local hospital.
On the morning of 02 July 2023, the passenger ferry Svanoy, loaded with passengers and vehicles, departed the ferry dock at Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rive, Quebec, for its scheduled run to the dock at L'Isle-aux-Coudres, Quebec, located on the St. Lawrence River. Visibility was restricted due to dense fog.
On 02 September 2023, the bulk carrier Golden Zhejiang was at anchor in Trincomali Channel, British Columbia when the second and fourth engineers were carrying out a weekly safety check of the free-fall lifeboat. During the safety check, the second engineer encountered an issue while testing the steering from inside the lifeboat.
On 24 September 2023, the fishing vessel Silver Condor, with 6 people on board, began its return trip to port after fishing for redfish. Around midnight on 25 September, the vessel started listing to port and sinking by the stern; as the vessel sank, all people on board entered the water.
