The TSB issues a rail safety advisory following the September 2018 fatal accident on a railway bridge near Wemotaci, Quebec

Dorval, Quebec, 29 November 2018 – Today, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) published a rail safety advisory letter with regards to its investigation (R18Q0075) into the September 2018 fatal accident on the railway bridge over the Saint-Maurice River near Wemotaci, Quebec.

The TSB conducted a data-gathering investigation into this occurrence to advance transportation safety through greater awareness of potential safety issues.


The TSB is an independent agency that investigates air, marine, pipeline, and rail transportation occurrences. Its sole aim is the advancement of transportation safety. It is not the function of the Board to assign fault or determine civil or criminal liability.
