TSB Releases Final Investigation Report on a Tank Car which sustained Damage near Dugald, Manitoba


(Gatineau, Quebec, August 23, 2010) - The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) will hold a media availability on August 25, 2010, to make public the TSB investigation report (R09W0016) which involved a tank car that sustained damage near Dugald, Manitoba, on January 14, 2009. The Board issued one Recommendation and raised a Safety Concern as a result of the investigation.

The Investigator-in-Charge, Mr. John Ferguson, and Mr. Rob Johnston, Acting Director Operations, Rail/Pipeline Investigations Branch, will answer questions. The experts will be available for questions and interviews on site.

The TSB is an independent agency that investigates marine, pipeline, railway and aviation transportation occurrences. Its sole aim is the advancement of transportation safety. It is not the function of the Board to assign fault or determine civil or criminal liability.
