TSB Deploys Team to Investigate a Rail Accident in Saint-Charles-de-Bellechasse, Quebec


(Gatineau, Quebec, February 25, 2010) - The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has deployed a team to today’s rail accident in Saint-Charles-de-Bellechasse, Quebec. Saint-Charles-de-Bellechasse is located 20 kilometres southeast of Lévis. TSB Senior Rail Investigator Don Ross is the Investigator-in-Charge and is leading the team. He is accompanied by 6 TSB investigators.

On February 25, 2010, at approximately 4:25 am local time, a VIA Rail train was involved in an accident.

The TSB is an independent agency that investigates marine, pipeline, railway and aviation transportation occurrences. Its sole aim is the advancement of transportation safety. It is not the function of the Board to assign fault or determine civil or criminal liability.
